Kinder Kandinsky Circles

Hello there,
This post is focused on the process of creating Kandinsky Circles! In Kinder, we talk about the word "concentric" (Big word, but they LOVE saying it) and we say "KANDINSKY!" in our craziest voices so we remember our inspiration! They have a great time using oil pastels, and really get to experience the medium. They make all of their own color choices, and add their own details. It fun to just walk around and see their artistic decisions, and hear them talk about their work!

Kandinsky Emotions!

Hello there!
This post will be featuring work inspired by Wassily Kandinsky. My second grade artists talk about Kandinsky's work - noticing how different lines, shapes and colors show different emotions. We talked about how he listened to music while he painted, and we did the same thing when we began our emotion adventure! As a class, we thought of different emotions we feel each day, and we talked about what colors, shapes and lines we would use to show that emotion on paper. We talked about being abstract; no smiley faces, animals, or people allowed!
The students then chose their own emotion, and thinking like Kandinsky, they began to draw and paint!
These are the results. Can you guess the emotion?
Getting into it!
